Labor force includes females aged 16 and over who are available to work. Those in the labor force are generally split into employed and unemployed. Those not in labor force often include students, retirees, and those who take care of children or other family members.

Family households with a female householder and no spouse present generally receive SNAP benefits in higher numbers if they have children under 18. Over 50% of such households in Providence, and Newport receive SNAP benefits, compared to 6% in the city of Westerly.

According to the American Community Survey, males are more likely to have health insurance coverage than females in Rhode Island. Young adults (age group 26-34) have higher rates of uninsured population among all age groups for many geographies in Rhode Island.

Median gross rent is a typical rent paid by the "middle" household when ranked from lowest to highest rent. It includes estimated monthly utility and fuel costs.
Contract rent is the amount paid by a tenant to the owner of the property. It does not include utility bills. Unlike the median, the average rent can be skewed by more expensive properties.

In Rhode Island’s 2022 election cycle, 205 women won seats vs. 309 men. Overall, women accounted for 40% of elected offices. Of the women elected, 15%* were women of color. 47 women were elected to Rhode Island's General Assembly, resulting in 42% representation by women. Only one woman was elected to Executive Office (Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos).
